In 1998, Hyundai and a coalition of New England dealers joined forces in the fight against pediatric cancer by supporting a local initiative for the Jimmy Fund at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. This grassroots campaign swiftly expanded nationwide, evolving into Hyundai Hope On Wheels (HHOW).

Hyundai Empowers Fight Against Cancer

As a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, HHOW is steadfast in its mission to support children fighting cancer. HHOW’s efforts are dedicated to funding crucial research and increasing childhood cancer awareness. With the strong support of Hyundai Motor America, its network of over 830 dealers, and loyal customers, HHOW receives a portion of proceeds from every new vehicle sold. In 2017, HHOW celebrated a major achievement, exceeding $130 million in lifetime donations toward pediatric cancer research in the United States.

Annually, Hyundai’s Hope on Wheels holds “Handprint Ceremonies” at children’s hospitals and medical centers across the United States. During these ceremonies, children who are battling cancer or have overcome it place their handprints on a Hyundai vehicle. This act symbolizes their individual and collective battles against childhood cancer. The handprints serve as a poignant reminder of the importance of continuous research and support for pediatric cancer patients and their families.
